Ben McKinney

Ben Allen McKinney was born April 25, 1947 in Laredo, TX and passed away on January 2, 2023.  He was the son of Eunice and Elbert McKinney.  He graduated salutatorian from United Independent School District in 1967, attended Laredo Junior College and graduated from Texas A & I, Kingsville, TX with a general engineering degree.  His working career was with telephone companies in Midland, Lubbock, Abilene and San Antonio, TX also Ft. Lauderdale, FL, New Jersey and Clinton, MS.

Ben was an avid amateur radio operator for 62 years since age 13 (K5HQV) with an extra class license.  He married Beverly Vos in 1970 in Laredo and they have one son Allen Ross (Emily) McKinney.

He is also survived by sister, Mary Dodsworth, Cypress, TX; brother, Harold Joseph McKinney, Rosenberg, TX and nieces and nephews.
