Billy "Mike" Thurman, age 68, passed away peacefully in his home in Cornersville, Tennessee, on February 2, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. Born in Maury County on October 12, 1956, to the late Billy Mizell Thurman and Mary Malone Thurman, Mike lived a life full of love, faith, and adventure.
Mike was a man devoted to his faith, and he found profound joy in the great outdoors, where he felt closest to God’s creation. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished the beauty of nature, whether he was casting a line into a quiet lake, tracking deer through the woods, or riding his four-wheeler through winding trails. His love for the outdoors was more than a pastime—it was a reflection of his deep appreciation for life’s simple, yet most meaningful, gifts.
From a young age, Mike was drawn to physical fitness, challenging himself to push his limits. Bodybuilding became a passion that he pursued with dedication, a testament to his discipline and strong will.
Life's greatest blessing came when he met Carol Underwood, the love of his life. By a stroke of luck, their paths crossed, and just a year later, in 1994, they vowed to spend forever together. Their marriage was one of unwavering devotion, built on shared laughter, adventure, and a deep, abiding love. Together, they found joy in camping beneath the stars, creating memories filled with warmth and wonder.
Mike’s heart was never confined by walls—he was happiest under the open sky, feeling the sun on his face and the breeze at his back. He made the most of every moment, embracing life with a sense of adventure and a spirit that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Thurman; his daughters: Christy Michelle Fowler and Lisa Suzanne (Jason) Tucker; his siblings: Gwyn Lee Thurman and Elaine (Steve) Meacham; grandchildren: John Michael Graham, Lacy Kay Fowler, Stevie Shane Fowler, Alyssa Jade Tucker, and Tyler Tucker; great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Robyn, Venus, Jordyn, Camden, Ashton, and Adalee; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
His dear lifelong friends, Richard Cox, Donnie Crumley, and Billy Ivey, will forever cherish the memories and moments shared with Mike. He was also deeply loved by his faithful four-legged companions, Precious, Sunny Bun, and Toby.
Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Dwight Malone Thurman; his maternal grandparents, Isaac Paul Malone and Lutie Mae Malone; and his paternal grandparents, Webster Wilkins Thurman and Annie Mae Thurman.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made in Mike’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization close to the family's heart.
Mike’s legacy is one of love, adventure, and faith—a life well-lived and well-loved. While he may have left this earthly home, his spirit will bless the fields, rivers, and trails he so adored, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
