Jane Elizabeth Blumberg passed away on April 9, 2017. She was born on March 26, 1924 in Montgomery, Alabama and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Jane married Ben Blumberg Jr. on Oct. 11, 1941. Her husband served as a P47 fighter pilot in Belgium and Germany during WW II. During his life-long career with General Electric, the family lived in Dallas; Cincinnati; Schenectady, New York; Boston; Washington, D.C., and San Jose, Calif.
Jane made close friends in the many locations they lived. She was always ready to pack up and move the family to a new destination with short notice. One of her favorite activities was visiting antique and thrift stores looking for deals and treasures. Jane was an active volunteer for local schools, a Bridge player, and a member of garden clubs.
She was loved by many friends and family and was known for her quick wit and independent spirit. She was a resident of Franklin since 1989. In her later years, Jane enjoyed reading, staying current on world affairs and looked forward to her weekly shopping trip to Kroger with her son, Allen. She was perplexed by modern technology as evidence by her extensive collection of telephones that she claimed did not work.
In her final days, she was surrounded by family and friends. Father Peter Whalen, an Episcopal Priest, gave her communion and a blessing during her final days.
Mrs. Blumberg was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years. Survivors include two sons: Ben Allen Blumberg of Franklin and John William Blumberg of Manchester, New Hampshire; Grandsons Robert Blumberg of Franklin and David (Gwen) Blumberg of Boston; Great Grandson Ty Blumberg of Boston; her sister-in-law, Flora Mae Kornman of Fort Myers, Fla. and many other family members and friends.
There will be no memorial service. The family requests that donations in her memory be made to Williamson County Fire and Rescue or a charity of your choice. SPRING HILL MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES. 931-486-0059 www.springhill-memorial.com
