Johnny Franklin Tomlin, age 81, passed away on March 28, 2024 at his residence in Columbia, Tennessee. A native of Williamson County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Macon Tomlin and the late Jennie Ristoria Warren. He was a graduate of the 1960 class of Spring Hill High School, and spent his career in the Aerospace Industry, retiring after 32 years from AVCO/TEXTRON. He was a passionate student of History and was an extremely avid collector of Indian artifacts and Civil War Relics. He enjoyed metal detecting, flea markets, gardening, and watching black and white movies, especially the 3 Stooges and old westerns. He became a minister in 1974, and served as the pulpit, assistant, or interim minister for various Churches of Christ in Middle Tennessee. His greatest accomplishment was his family, with whom he loved spending time. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son: Daryl Franklin Tomlin; brother: Larry Wayne Tomlin; 5 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law; and 2 nieces. He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Jeanetta Russell Tomlin; daughter: Cheryl Latanya (Phillip) Howell; son: Jason Russell Tomlin, Sr.; daughter-in-law: Cindy Hardison Tomlin; 10 grandchildren: Andrew, Benjamin, Toby, Ryan, Jayde, J.R., and Juliana Tomlin; Kayla (Josh Ketchum), Reese(Jessy), and Joshua Howell; 2 great-grandchildren: Johnathan Basford and Dawson Potts, with another on the way: Kaystin Ketchum; special cousin that he considered a brother: Jesse Harrell; extremely special family friend: Robert Johnson; numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home, with Jim Taylor and Jeremy Butt officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be conducted on Monday from 4-8PM and 2 hours prior to the service on Tuesday, all at the funeral home. His grandchildren, along with David Basford, Dustin Potts, Josh Ketchum and Robert Johnson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law, and Jesse Harrell.
