Malaika Faye Ballard

Malaika Faye (Scudder) Ballard, age 47 of Spring Hill, TN passed away September 10, 2024. She was born in Nakuru, Kenya. Malaika graduated from Rift Valley Academy and Freed-Hardeman University. She married Scott Ballard on June 19, 2000, and together they had three daughters, Abby (20), Ally (19), and Annie (11).

She loved to teach. She taught preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, and high school. Her passion was teaching the Bible. She taught at Goodpasture Christian School, Foundation Christian Academy, and Columbia Academy. She loved Big Reedy Church Camp, Horizons, and VBS. It was important to her to share her love for God and His word with girls of all ages. She loved to cook, work in her flowers, sew, and listen to Christian music and classic country. Most of all she loved God, her church family, and her own family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Scudder and the late Linda Faye Scudder who died in childbirth on the mission field in Kenya. Malaika is survived by her mother who raised her, Grace Scudder; siblings, Melinda (Eric) Wolford, Wendy (Fred) Czerwonka, Andrew (Anne) Scudder, James (Mandy) Scudder, Elizabeth (Corey) Ewing, Anna (Sam) Edgeston and Johnny Scudder; 14 nieces and nephews brothers and sisters in-law, Jerry (Christa) Ballard and Lori (Jerrod) Shelton; four nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 11:00AM – 3:00PM Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Spring Hill Church of Christ followed by the funeral service that will begin at 3:00PM. Gregg Lee will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Max Ballard, Jake Ballard, Luke Sheldon, Cameron Czerwonka, Kale Czerwonka and James Michael Scudder. Memorials may be made to the Ballard Girls Educational Fund.
