Stephen L. Sheldon, 56, lost his battle with cancer on October 15, 2015 in Spring Hill, TN. Steve was born in Warner Robins, GA to the late Harry and Doris Sheldon.
Steve was an avid Tennessee Vol football fan, and enjoyed spending time in the Smoky Mountains with his wife camping and fly fishing. He will be remembered for his competitive nature, never ending humor, and loyalty to family, friends and his employer.
His life was full of accolades beginning in High School where he was Knoxville Fulton High School's Most Valuable Player his junior and senior year. He began his college football career at University of Memphis, and later transferred to Carson Newman University where he earned a degree in Education and was a starting member of the 1983 National Championship Team.
Steve's professional career was as impressive as his high school and college sports. He began as a High School Football Coach at Knoxville Central High. He later joined Trane Air Conditioning where he was employed over 25 years and was the recipient of numerous awards. He was in Trane's Top Ten Club several times. As a leader he won five (5) Pacesetter Awards given to the top sales office within the Trane organization. He finished his career as the District Manager of the Kentucky-Tennessee Dealers Sales Office and was presented with Ingersol Rand's Presidents Award, the highest award given within the Trane-Ingersol Rand organization.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Doris Sheldon and brother John Edward Sheldon. Survivors include his devoted wife Joan Paucek Sheldon, a sister Sandra Oaks (Carl), brothers Richard Sheldon (Beverly) and Harry Sheldon Jr. (Jeanna), several nieces and nephews, and pets Harry, Chloe and Nikita along with all the Trane Dealers, many loving friends and family. A special thank you to the Caris Hospice Team who cared for Steve in his final days.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on October 24, 2015 at Spring Hill Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5239 Main St., Spring Hill, TN 37174. Visitation will begin at noon with the memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center.
